Along with taking still photos, my husband and I have a quad-copter we use for aerial photography and videos. We love flying our quad-copter and capturing videos from a bird’s eye view. Today I will review the Hubsan X4 which we used to practice our flying skills before flying our Phantom 2.
My husband is great at flying helicopters (we have several R/C Helicopters in our home) but I’m not a natural at flying, nor have I really tried. I’m happy he suggested we should practice as I crashed the mini quad-copter within 7 seconds. My husband had no problems flying it, neither did my kids. But as for me; I failed miserably on my first try, and I have not tried again(Yes, I know, call me a quitter!) Oh well, we all have our strengths and weaknesses, right? But that being said, the mini-drone hold up very well to crashing. Nothing has been broken despite being crashed a few times.
For those with more finesse than I possess, this mini quad is great! The Hubsan and the Phantom controllers are set up the same so there was no need to re-learn the controls once you get your hands on a Phantom.
The Hubsan has a 6-Axis Gyro which constantly monitors the movements which provides smooth maneuvers.
It is also quite nimble! Once you learn the controls, you can make it flip, do barrel rolls, stop in mid-air, make a quick 180. It is very responsive!
It is also TINY; it fits in your hand.
The run time on each battery is about 7-8 minutes with a 30 minute charge time. We bought a 2nd battery. Actually, you can buy 5 batteries for $19.99 on Amazon if you want continual flying.
All in all, the Hubsan X4 is a fun toy. I haven’t found any negatives.
